Traumatic Brain Injury Checklist of Symptoms

  • Loss of consciousness
  • Glasgow Coma Scale Score
  • Posttraumatic Amnesia
  • Headaches
  • Vomiting or nausea
  • Dizziness
  • Blurred vision
  • Fatigue
  • Sensitivity to light
  • Sensitivity to noise
  • Impaired coordination
  • Impaired memory, particularly short term memory
  • Impaired concentration
  • Impaired ability to attend to a task (easily distracted)
  • Impaired ability to learn new information
  • Impaired ability to deal with multiple stimuli
  • Word finding difficulty
  • Slower thinking and motor abilities
  • Impaired ability to plan and organize
  • Impaired motivation and initiative
  • Change in sleeping patterns
  • Irritability
  • Poor frustration tolerance (impatient)
  • Inability to deal with stress
  • Impulsive behavior
  • Mood swings, depression to euphoria
  • Suicidal ideation
  • Change in sense of humor
  • Lack of confidence and self-esteem
  • Egocentric
  • Change in libido (usually decreased)
  • Increased sensitivity to alcohol
  • Diminished sense of smell and taste
  • Prior head injuries
  • Complex partial seizure (like: repetitive motor movements, visual distortions, auditory hallucinations, strange odors & tastes, déjà vu, jamais vu).
  • Psychosocial symptoms associated with frontal lobe damage.
